The City of Bowie proudly partners with the Bowie Community Development Board in offering an improvement grant, which provides funds for façade improvements and historic rehabilitation projects.
Improvement Grant Details and Guidelines
The Improvement Grant Applications are considered throughout the year on a first come first served basis until funds are depleted. Grants are set up as a single payment reimbursement to property owners per building/business, and in some situations, tenants. No grant shall be awarded for work that has
already been done or for work that has been covered by insurance. All submitted work will be reviewed before any eligible work may commence.
Applicants may apply for one of the following grants:
Façade Grants: Façade Grants are available on a 50/50 matching basis with a cap of $5,000.00. Façade grants focus on the exterior work of storefronts (visible to the public) on commercial buildings and upper story residential buildings. Examples of such improvements are awnings, window rehabilitation, brick repair, and exterior paint.
The Application Process
- Contact the BCDB office at 101 E. Pecan Street or call 940.872.6246 to request an application before any work has started.
- Complete the application and agreement form and return them along with supplemental materials to the BCDB office for Design Committee review and approval.
- The applicant must be willing to work with the BCDB executive director to ensure that design standards are met. The Design Committee may provide stipulations and or suggestions during the review process.
